2/3/20 UPDATE: It has been exactly five months since my original post and the batteries are now showing half charged for pathlights 1-10. I purchased two additional pathlights labeled 11 & 12 back on Oct 11 and they are still showing fully charged. I guess I would have to agree that the recommendations that were given to me by Ring on how to extend the life of the batteries are legit and actually do work.UPDATE: Was contacted by Ring, (well… actually Amazon since they now own Ring) the day after posting my review offering their assistance with the issue I was experiencing with the batteries depleting after 4 days. Daniel, who specializes in ring devices patiently walked me through the settings for each Pathlight (8 in total) to get the best experience to assist with extending the life of the batteries. It has now been a full week and the batteries are still at full charge. Daniel assured me that by using the recommended settings the life of the batteries should last at least a year. (fingers crossed)……..I really love these lights, they are bright, stylish and can easily detect motion. I am now in the process of purchasing two more lights for a total of 10.The lights are bright and gorgeous when turned on, but they each require 4 “D” size batteries and if you live in a high traffic area like I do which includes a very busy street that also serves as a cut through road, neighbors jogging and walking dogs, homeless stray cats, random critters that like to roam in the middle of the night (possums, skunks, raccoons, deer’s, etc) and you despise changing the batteries every 4 days like I do then these lights are NOT for you. I have given up replacing the batteries so now I just have lawn ornaments sitting in my front yard.

This works very well for my pups to go out. I do have two that say they have weak signal from time to time and two battery dropped to 25% suddenly. However overall pleased.

I love my Ring pathlights! They are a part of my security along with my cameras. I really wanted them to light up my house when motion detected. They work great. I love the fact that one light senses motion and triggers the others to come on as well. The lights are a great addition to your Smart Home Build.

Update 25 Oct 19 – Updating from 3 to 5 stars!! Contacted Amazon who provided a return receipt and refunded a pro-rated cost of light since it was a “deal”. But then we received an email from Daniel – Amazon Executive Community Support who specializes in Ring devices. Daniel had read my review and wanted to discuss our issue with the pathlight. He wanted us to return the light to him but unfortunately we had already dropped it off at UPS. These lights are weather resistant so water should not have gotten inside battery compartment. We were provide a replacement. Fantastic customer service from Amazon/Ring!Now to review the lights – we use these lights with our Ring doorbell. Dusk to Dawn is turned off. We have them set to come on after dark if/when motion is detected. A couple are linked to doorbell to record all motion. Brightness is set at 4. Battery level is still full. These lights are wonderful!! (Just added 3 Ring Steplights! May order more if they hold up as well as pathlights.)————————Purchased 15 July 19. 4 pathlights and bridge. Working beautifully until yesterday when one of the lights quit working. We discovered water inside the battery compartment resulting in corrosion of all 4 D cell batteries. There is also condensation in the glass surrounding lightbulb and condensation in the motion sensor. We brought it inside to dry but the condensation isn’t drying up. We checked the other 3 path lights and they were completely dry. I contacted Ring to discuss replacement but the customer service representative said I needed to contact Amazon first (but seemed willing to replace based on Amazon response). Waiting to see what Amazon has to say. Will update if/when I have an answer.

These are great but my only reservation is how long the batteries will last. I have five of these set up along a high traffic walkway I share with my next door neighbor. I’m using Duracell batteries on one of them and Eneloop rechargeables with D battery adapters. After the first night, I took a look at the battery levels for each pathway light through the Ring app and found that the three Pathway lights using the rechargeables are already half life already but the Light with the Duracells are still full green. It’s been about two weeks since then and all the battery levels remain the same. If I can get a few months from the rechargeables I’ll be happy but if only one month then that’d suck :(Update 8/9/2019: Rechargeables won’t work with these so you’ll have to go with regular batteries. Rechargeables were lasting two to three weeks tops 🙁 I did buy the Amazon Basic D cells and they’re working great! The battery life is still full green after about a month and a half and my system is triggered on average 11 times per evening (we’ll see how these hold up when the nights are longer in the fall and winter). I’ve since purchased another Pathlight and have been getting a lot of compliments on them from visitors because they love how it lights up our landscape and pathway as they walk towards our front door. I still love these!

Nice addition to my ring of security. I live on a dark trail so at night it really lights up the walkway and street. The product feels durable and well built. Definitely will be purchasing more in the future.

These are much larger in person then expected, but with the big size D batteries in them you can imagine. They are BIG. They won’t look good in a very very flat space with no bushes and no walls. Next to my bushes they look perfect and from far away not as large as when held. I can’t tell how long the batteries will last, as we love our blink camera but with how much my kid goes in and out she wears the batteries down (and my front door hinges). We set them to only work at night so I am hoping that reduces the battery usage a lot. You can aim the sensor in the direction you want motion to be detected so we aimed ours less at the road and more at my front door and windows of my house.. and then one more towards the front yard so that it would go if anyone was close to the front of the house and it would go off when we pull in the driveway. They look fantastic and I hope they last. VERY heavy and sturdy feeling. No issues pushing into the ground but anyone who has ever used similar style things knows not to twist hard because end of the day its plastic.

The new Ring smart lighting line is a great compliment to my Ring Floodlight Cameras. In particular, I wanted to light up more of the front of the house when my driveway’s floodlight camera detected motion. I purchased four of the new Ring pathlights and a hub. Now, when the driveway light detects motion, it turns on the pathlights. The setup process went smoothly. You plug the hub in and scan a barcode and the app walks you through setup. Then, you do the same with these pathlights… insert batteries into each and scan a barcode from each box. At the end, you can set up groups of lights with different names. Then you can use the app to decide what other devices can turn these lights on. For example, I set my driveway floodlight camera to light up these four pathlights, lighting the walkway to the front door. You can have the lights then turn off 30 seconds, 1 minute, 3 minutes, or 5 minutes. You can also set a timeframe that lights can be triggered between each day, and more advanced schedules during the week.Response time is not immediate. When my floodlight camera detects motion and turns on its lights, it takes 3-5 seconds for these pathway lights to turn on. I have a very strong Wi-Fi signal in the house and I have the Ring hub close to the front of the house where the lights are. The Ring smart hub, required for any of the new smart lighting products, does not have a very good Wi-Fi radio on it and I found that it struggled to get a good signal despite my strong signal throughout the house to all other devices. Perhaps that is the reason for the delay? There is a “dusk to dawn” feature that will keep your pathlights dimly lit all night and then brighten up when motion is detected. You can turn this off so the lights do not stay dimly lit all night and just turn on during motion to save batteries. The color temperature of these lights is much closer to white than I was hoping for. I wanted more of a soft white to match my other outdoor lights. But since these lights don’t stay on for very long, it’s okay. They are not “daylight” bright or have any blue in it, but they are not quite soft white either.I’m not sure how well or for how long these will stand up to the elements. I will report back if I see any signs of deterioration or moisture inside. I do wish they were made of metal instead of plastic though.Ring recommends against using rechargeable batteries: “Ring recommends using standard alkaline batteries in Pathlights. Rechargeable batteries will work in Ring Pathlights, though they may not last as long as alkaline batteries. Heavy duty batteries should not be used in Ring Pathlights. Lithium batteries will also work in Ring Pathlights and are recommended when the weather is extremely cold.”Five stars for now because they do exactly what I wanted them to – light up more of the front of my home when motion is detected. If I have any issues in the future, I will update.

Lights work great..easy install. If you order several at once, install each as you open the box so you don’t have to go back and look for bar codes for each (which is what I had to do for 10 of them. Lights bridge up to your Ring doorbell ,if you have one, and that seems to be working together as intended. One thing I wasn’t expecting, from watching video, is there seems to be a faint light emitting from all 10 of the lights when they are not on. Which I like, and adds to the ambiance of our front yard. They are rather large for lighting so double check those dimensions. Will add pics when I get a chance

These lights are really nice. The color of the light itself is very pleasing. They are easy to install and group together to light an entire walkway when motion is detected by just one of the lights.
